The 2025 awards season has officially reached the home stretch, with the Screen Actors Guild Awards airing live on Netflix at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The annual event honoring outstanding performances in movies and television is taking place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
With only seven days remaining until the 2025 Oscars, the SAG Awards are the final opportunity to gauge who might take home an Academy Award in the acting categories on Sunday, March 2. With roughly 160,000 members of SAG-AFTRA voting for the SAGs, vs. the 9,500 voting members of the Motion Picture Academy, Sunday night’s event is generally considered to be a good gauge for determining who might capture Oscar trophies for best actor/actress and best supporting actor/actress.
With that in mind, keep an eye out tonight for those who’ve been killing it all season, including The Brutalist’s Adrien Brody vs. Conclave’s Ralph Fiennes, both nominated for best actor in a motion picture, and The Substance’s Demi Moore vs. Anora’s Mikey Madison, each up for best actress in a motion picture. This also will be the first high-profile appearance of fellow best actress nominee Karla Sofía Gascón, who became embroiled in a controversy over past social-media posts that largely derailed her Oscar campaign for her work in Emilia Pérez.
In the television categories, will Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanada continue their winning streaks for their work in Shogun, and might the same be true for The Penguin’s Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti, who have drawn raves from critics and viewers alike?
And with Jane Fonda being honored with the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award, viewers and attendees alike are sure to be wondering if the iconic actress may comment on the current political climate — an idea that likewise extends to any of Sunday night’s winners.
