For his performance in A Real Pain, Culkin has already won best supporting actor at the BAFTAs, SAG Awards, and Golden Globe Awards. The 30-year-old actor has won an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award for his role as Roman Roy in HBO’s Succession; he’ll be competing with fellow show alumn Jeremy Strong at the Oscars.

Eisenberg has already picked up best original screenplay awards at the BAFTAs and Sundance Film Festival for A Real Pain. His portrayal of Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network also saw him nominated for best actor at the Oscars, Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards, to name a few.

During The Hollywood Reporter‘s Writer Roundtable, Eisenberg revealed that A Real Pain was born out of another project.

“I was writing a short story about two friends who go to Mongolia. It wasn’t going well. Then this ad popped up online for ‘Auschwitz Tours’ and then, in parentheses, ‘With lunch,’” he said. “I didn’t think those four words would change my life, but they did. I took the guys out of Mongolia and reimagined the story as them going on this strange thing that actually exists, a yuppie tour of historical trauma. Their interpersonal strife set them against the backdrop of real historical trauma; these things could be in conversation with each other.”
