Finn Wolfhard has mixed feelings about how his Stranger Things character’s storyline ends.
Ahead of the highly anticipated fifth and final season of the hit Netflix show premiering later this year, the actor who plays Mike Wheeler teased his character’s fate during a recent interview with People magazine.
“I was so happy with his ending, and I don’t know, I was satisfied, but I was also very confused and sad, but also very happy,” Wolfhard said.
The Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire actor added that wrapping up the series “was definitely a lot.”
“I felt like I was in a dream or something,” he said. “None of it felt real. I don’t know, it felt perfect.”
Stranger Things, which initially premiered in 2016, follows a group of friends in 1980s Hawkins, Indiana, who uncover a mystery involving secret experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one strange little girl after a young boy disappears. The series also stars Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton and Joe Keery.
Earlier this year, creators the Duffer Brothers also teased the final season for fans. “We spent a full year filming this season,” Ross Duffer said at a Netflix press event in January. “By the end, we’d captured over 650 hours of footage. So, needless to say, this is our biggest and most ambitious season yet. It’s like eight blockbuster movies. It’s pretty insane.”
Matt Duffer added, “At the same time, we think it’s our most personal story. It was super intense and emotional to film — for us and for our actors. We’ve been making this show together for almost 10 years. There was a lot of crying. There was so much crying. The show means so much to all of us, and everyone put their hearts and souls into it. And we hope — and believe — that passion will translate to the screen.”
