Mark Ronson‘s latest DJ set didn’t go as expected, landing the Oscar-winning composer-producer in the hospital this week.
Ronson shared a photo on Instagram Wednesday of him lying in a hospital bed, giving the camera a thumbs up. He revealed that he’s recovering after injuring himself during a recent performance but still managed to finish the gig.
“That time the house PA was so bad that I tried to one-hand turn the stage monitor towards the crowd mid-mix to give them some extra juice,” he wrote. “Turns out they weigh more than I thought…Two popped bicep tendons and one finished gig later, here we are, baby! #tornthisway.”
Ronson, now one of the most prolific producers in the music industry, started his music career as a DJ in New York City in the ’90s. He went on to collaborate with top artists, including Adele, Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse, Paul McCartney and Bruno Mars, among many others.
The nine-time Grammy winner earned his first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Uptown Funk,” featuring Bruno Mars, in 2015. Some of his other hits include Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night” and Miley Cyrus’ “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart.”
As for film, Ronson won the Oscar for best original song in 2019 for “Shallow” from A Star Is Born, starring Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Last year, he also earned an Oscar nomination for “I’m Just Ken” from Barbie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. The latter film he scored with his frequent producing partner Andrew Wyatt.
Just last week, Ronson announced that he would be reflecting on his time record spinning earlier in his career in his upcoming memoir, Night People: How to Be a DJ in ’90s New York City.
