‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 Trailer Revealed

HBO revealed the official trailer of The Last of Us season 2 on Saturday.

The action-packed trailer (below) greatly expands upon the teaser footage previously released, and gives a first glimpse of several new season 2 characters.

The creators and cast of HBO’s Emmy winning post-apocalpytic drama series were on hand at the South by Southwest Film Festival on Saturday in advance of the show’s second season.

“[Joel and Ellie’s] relationship has changed a little, and we start to see why,” star Bella Ramsey said, and referencing a line in the trailer where Ellie scolds Joel by saying “you swore…” — referencing the end of the first season where Joel swears to Ellie that what he told her about what happened with the Fireflies was the truth. “I mean that ‘you swore’ kind of gives you a little idea of where Ellie is at. I think Ellie has that in the back of her head this whole time, and that’s where we pick them up. And they’re not best of friends. She’s quite sad. But I mean, there’s a lot of layers to friendship.”

The panel included co-showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, along with Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Gabriel Luna, Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, and Young Mazino. In addition to Dever, Merced, Mazino as Jesse, additional new cast members this season include Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Spencer Lord , Danny Ramirez, and Jeffrey Wright. Catherine O’Hara also guest stars.

More details from the panel to come…

The series follows two survivors (Pascal and Ramsey) as they navigate a lawless America following a devastating plague which turns its victims into zombie-like monsters. The first season won eight Emmys, and scored nominations for best drama, and lead actor and actress in a drama series for Pascal and Ramsey.

The second season returns April 13 and consists of seven episodes.
