Sixteen years after making headlines for giving birth to octuplets, Natalie (previously Nadya) Suleman is sharing her story in a new Lifetime movie.

I Was Octomom premieres on Saturday, March 8, and stars Kristen Lee Gutoskie as Suleman, Caitlin Stryker as her best friend, Beth; and Anita Wittenberg as her mother, Angela. Per the synopsis, the film is told from the 49-year-old mother’s perspective and “follows Suleman’s journey, starting from her decision to have one more IVF procedure to complete her then family of six, to becoming a mother of 14, having survived her life being torn apart by the tabloid media.”

“What the hell was I thinking, right? At the time, I felt like a seventh baby would complete my family. If I could handle six, then seven would be a breeze,” Suleman says in the official trailer. “I can see the immaturity in that plan now. But many parents suffering through guilt and grief, they make decisions to lessen their pain and suffering. I chose to soothe my pain by having one more baby. One more. Not eight.”

I Was Octomom was directed by Brianne Nord-Stewart and written by Kelly Fullerton. The film comes ahead of Suleman’s six-part documentary series, airing on Lifetime on March 10.
