Why Jenna Ortega Says She’s ‘Moved on’ From Marvel

Regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jenna Ortega has actually been there, done that.

The Wednesday actress recalled filming a small role in 2013’s Iron Man 3 after Entertainment Tonight told her during a recent interview, “I’m hoping that we can get Jenna Ortega into the Marvel Universe.”

“I did it once,” Ortega responded. “It was one of the first jobs I ever did. They took all my lines out. I’m in Iron Man 3 for a quick second. I take up the frame, I have one leg and I’m the vice president’s daughter.”

Her Death of a Unicorn co-star Paul Rudd, who is also an MCU veteran, chimed in with his hopes that Ortega will someday return to Marvel.

“Marvel is very good at like, kind of laying those bread crumbs,” he said. “And so it might very well be that you come back. That they are going to create something for you, ’cause they should be so lucky to have Jenna Ortega in their franchise.”

However, the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star isn’t jumping at the idea. “They even took my name away. I count that, then I move on,” she added.

Since her brief Iron Man 3 role at 11 years old, Ortega has gone on to build a name for herself, starring in dozens of projects, including multiple Scream films and the hit Netflix show Wednesday.

Iron Man 3, which starred Robert Downey Jr. as the title character, follows Tony Stark as his world is torn apart by a formidable terrorist called the Mandarin and starts an odyssey of rebuilding and retribution. It grossed more than $1.2 billion at the worldwide box office.
